 THE POSITION

Our Financial team manage financials for the Hop Stuff group (encompassing both our brewery and Taproom estate) on a day-to-day basis. As Financial Director you will manage all financial oversight, with responsibility for the Company’s accounts, financial reporting and data analysis, you will manage the workload accordingly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

·         Work with the Managing & Commercial Directors as well as the wider Senior Management team to assist in the growth of the company

·         Participate in business development, policy setting, financial forecasting and strategic planning

·         Cost Analysis & production oversight

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

·         Day-to-day financial oversight of Hop Stuff Brewery & our Taproom Bars

·         Cost Analysis & production oversight

·         Cashflow management & operational management

·         Procurement oversight

·         Financial forecasting & planning

·         Working with the senior management team to deliver the group’s KPIs

·         Working with the Taproom Operations Manager to maintain a Taproom group GP of 68%

·         Working with the Head Brewer and Operations Manager to have profitability of over 60% within the brewery

·         Underlying EBITDA 5-8%

·         Enforcing pre-determined costings for new Taproom openings of between £100,000 - £250,000 per site

·         Working with the HR Manager to ensure effective labour & cost management across the company

STAFF MANAGEMENT

·         Effectively manage all members of finance staff, including Financial Controller and Office Manager, carrying out progress reviews as required

·         Liaise with the Taproom Operations Manager to ensure Taproom management staff are adhering to company policy and procedure in relation to cash management

·         Liaise with the HR Manager to ensure there is adequate staffing across all departments, advising on recruitment budgets and salary bands as appropriate

DELIVERY

·         Deliver excellent service to our staff, customers, contractors and partners through fiscal management of the organisation

·         To ensure the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, the effective operation and development of management systems for all accounting functions, particularly those relating to purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, cash and banking, nominal ledger and stock control

·         To be responsible for the preparation of appropriate financial to present as and when required

·         To be fully conversant with new initiatives, new legislation and modern thinking in all financial matters relating to the company

·         To plan and prepare documents, including financial plans, budgets and forecasts

·         To lead and initiate liaison with auditors, business advisers and funding partners

·         To plan, implement and develop the Finance Team operating procedures

COMPANY GROWTH TARGETS

·         Increase group revenue across to in excess of £10,000,000

·         Expand our Taproom group to at least 5 sites

·         Grow our National retail portfolio and look at export potential

·         Strong underlying profitability

GENERAL

·         To be aware of, adhere to, and implement any legislative requirements consistent with overall duties of this post, with particular regard to Health and Safety policies and procedures, Data Protection Act 1998 and Equal Opportunities

·         To carry out any other tasks that will, from time to time be allocated by the Managing Director on an ad hoc or continuing basis, commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post

·         To be a brand ambassador for Hop Stuff Brewery; proud of who you work for, representing the company appropriately when at work, or events

 PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

·         Considerable experience in a Senior Financial Controller level or higher

·         An understanding of the brewing & hospitality sectors is advantageous

·         Excellent time management

·         Experience in direct management and control of a minimum £5m turnover operation

·         Proven experience in direct management and supervision of a finance team

·         Proven experience of budget preparation, setting and monitoring and financial forecasting

·         Proven experience of preparing and presenting financial and management accounts, reports and data

·         Experience of liaising with auditors, business advisers and board members

·         Qualified accountant to at least CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA level

·         Proven ability to liaise with statutory agencies (e.g. HMRC)

·         Experience with Quickbooks, SAP One and Kobas EPoS systems desired, proficiency in Microsoft Office essential

·         Excellent written & verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills

·         Team player who understands the requirements of working with a small team is essential

·         Sociable manner; a lot of this role requires working closely with the rest of the team, so an ability to build relationships quickly is essential

·         Ability to prioritise responsibilities under pressure and to self-motivate

·         Personal integrity and confidentiality

·         Flexible; some days will require early starts or late finishes

REMUNERATION

·         £55,000 (based on a 40-hour working week)

·         Share option on Acquisition granted on joining Hop Stuff Brewery Ltd through EMI scheme (eligible after 2yrs service)
