THE POSITION

Brewers are the heart of our beer production. Responsible for crafting beers from our core-range (such as Four Hour Session or Renegade IPA) to the wild and exciting (think DDH, NEIPA, Kettle Sour), you get to use our new, 40bbl 4-stage ABE kit. However, it’s not just about beer, as you’ll be responsible for stocks, brewhouse care, record-keeping and more. It’s brewing on a big scale.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with the Head of Production, and the rest of the brew team to ensure all brewing and packaging is carried out according to specification, quality standards and in a timely manner to meet the production schedule
Ensure that all packaged products conform to quality and legal standards
Be responsible for stock control; there should always be healthy supply of raw ingredient to meet the production schedule
Maintain the organisation and cleanliness of the brewhouse and malt room; everything in place, tidy and presentable, and equipment organised and checked regularly
Liaise with the Head/Senior Brewer promptly regarding out of stock items or specialist products required; production should not be delayed because stock hasn’t been ordered
Understand the reporting system in place, and action any cases of low stocks, breakages or hazards; near-misses should be avoided, but by reporting a near-miss the whole team can learn from the mistake
Keep all records, paperwork and tasting samples up-to-date and organised in a sensible system which allows ease of reference for other members of the wider brewery team
Be a brand ambassador for Hop Stuff Brewery; be proud of who you work for, and represent the company appropriately when at work, or events
Ensure you work within the guidelines set out in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring suggestions for change are communicated to the Head Brewer, and that you are aware of any revisions or updates when these are made
Take the lead on cleaning schedules and implementation
Complete any reasonable request asked of you by the Head Brewer or another senior member of the Hop Stuff Management team


PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

A-Level Science or higher is desirable, GCSE essential
Excellent written and verbal communication
Team player who understands the requirements of working with a small team is essential
1 – 2 years’ professional brewing experience is essential – on a similar scale or larger brew-kit is desired, but we can provide training to move you up to our level is essential
Professional personality and taking pride in your work
Sociable manner; a lot of this role requires working closely with the rest of the team, so an ability to build relationships quickly is essential
Flexible; some days will require early starts or late finishes, and there is weekend work involved too (we manage this on a rota basis)
Relevant brewing or science degree desirable
Knowledge and experience of food production desirable
A Legal right to work in the UK
 

REMUNERATION

£22,000 - £25,000pa basic salary, dependant on experience
