"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"

So said the brewers at Hop Stuff when a load of Sorachi Ace hops were dumped on their door step (by the error of a generous supplier). Instead of returning the Japanese-origin hop, they tightened their bootstraps and put together a herbaceous creamy red ale. Caramel sweetness up front with easy bitterness finish, sprinkled with touches of coconut. At a friendly 5.1% ABV, it's alluring and sessionable.

Now is time to tuck into this beauty, pair with some Japanese inspired food and have a chinwag.

From 6pm, a £10 ticket gets you:

- 2x the new Sorachi Ace Red Ale
- 1x plate of Furikake loaded fries
- entry into prize giveaways throughout the night

So hey, come turn Japanese and welcome in the weekend!

Where did the term “Session Beer” originate from?

Some say that the term was first coined during WWI. The story goes that with morale in munitions factories in the Royal Arsenal at an all-time low, the British government took drastic action. Shell production workers were allotted two four hour drinking periods, or “Sessions” during their working day, and could head to the local beer house to sup a few pints. The beer was typically low ABV - just enough to keep the hard-working laborers chipper, whilst maintaining a steady flow of ammo to the war front.

HSB loved hearing this story so much they decided to pay tribute to it! A beer like none they have brewed before, this bold, juicy, generously hopped Four Hour Session is the first new beer since their successful crowdfund earlier this year, and links their heritage on The Royal Arsenal with a fresh approach to brewing. Generous helpings of Mosaic, Rakau and Amarillo towards the end of the boil give bags of succulent, tropical fruit flavours, balanced by a light bittering from Columbus. Four additions of four hops in this fantastic Four Hour Session!

To celebrate the launch of the newest addition to the HSB line-up, we’re holding our very own “Four Hour Session” party at The Taproom! Over four hours from 6pm to 10pm on 9th February, we’ll have four kegs of the new beer for you to get through, exclusively available at The Taproom. Ticket holders can expect a talk and guided tasting from the HSB brewers and automatic entry into the competition draw, with great HSB prizes being dished out on the hour, every hour! PLUS grab yourself a FREE 2/3 of the new beer when you present your ticket at the bar in the first 40 minutes of the party! After the tasting we’ll be dimming down the lights and cranking up the music, for a morale-boosting end of week blowout!
